The Flagler Fusion U14 girls soccer team did something this past weekend that no other U14 team from Flagler County has done before.
Competing in the 2012 AYSO Florida State games, one of the largest soccer tournaments that occur in Florida, the Fusion advanced to the championship game. The Fusion, however, lost in the finals to Okeechobee, 3-0.
Teams from the Southeastern U.S. and the Virgin Islands also competed in the Florida-based tournament. This year’s tournament took place Jan. 13-16, at Village Park, in Wellington. More than 100 teams competed in age groups from U10 to U19, according to Fusion coaches.
The Flagler Fusion were able to participate in the tournament thanks to their sponsors, who are as follows: Palm Coast Ford, Publix, Walmart, Sears and Suntrust Bank.
Members of the team include Alexis Adams, Magan Kisner, Hana Boyer, Caitlynn Morse, Isabella Herrera, Kylie Dedeo, Vanessa Peterson, Maya Grussgott, Janessa Spina, Christa Lehane, Maria Foust, Adrianna Brandt, and Amelia Panarelli.
