Matanzas running back Shawn White has committed to play football at the U.S. Naval Academy, according to Pirates coach Keith Lagocki.

White, who was scouted by several NCAA Division I programs, will make his official visit Feb. 3 to Feb. 4, to the Annapolis, Md.-based campus. Lagocki said White will make a decision after this weekend’s visit.

During his senior season, White ran the ball 127 times for 867 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had 13 catches for 161 yards.

White also played defensive end. He had 73 total tackles, seven sacks, three forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

In the North Florida Shriners All-Star game Jan. 28, White was named the game’s Most Valuable Player for his offensive performance. In the game, White ran the ball 13 times for 62 yards and three touchdowns. He also had seven tackles and two quarterback pressures while playing defense.

Last season, the Midshipmen went 5-7, but missed out on a bowl game.
