JULY 1
Out of gas
10 p.m. — 500 Block of County Road 205, Bunnell. Burglary-Residential. A reporting party advised that someone rang his doorbell at approximately 9:30 p.m. He went to the door about 10 to 15 minutes later and no one was there. He observed a “jacked-up” pickup truck on the roadway and witnessed it slow down in the area of the victims’ residence. The reporting party got in his vehicle to investigate, and while en route he observed the victims’ four-wheeler on the side of the road, out of gas.
He then continued on to check the victims’ residence, down the road. The reporting party found the side door ajar and noted that there were several firearms missing and a flat screen television left on the floor in the hallway.
When the victims arrived on the scene, they advised that a safe containing passports, jewelry and other miscellaneous items had also been stolen. The missing items had a combined value of approximately $3,900, and there were no signs of forced entry.
An investigation revealed handprints on the back bedroom window, which will be submitted, along with photos of the scene, as evidence.
