Troopers nab 189 speeders in Operation Checkered Flag

The Florida Highway Patrol has concluded its initiative, known as Operation Checkered Flag, to crack down on aggressive drivers on Interstate 95 in Nassau, Duval, St. Johns and Flagler counties.

Troopers conducted the operation from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, July 6. The results are as follows:

189 Speeding
2 Violation of the move over law
2 Aggressive driving
11 Driving while license suspended/revoked
1 No valid drivers license
1 Child restraint
16 Seat belt
5  Window tint
20 No proof of insurance
6 Commercial vehicle violations
1 Drug arrest
49 Other

303 Total citations
64 Total written warnings
24 Total faulty equipment notices

Additionally, 13 Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Inspections were conducted, and two persons were arrested for outstanding warrants along with assisting 25 disabled motorists.
