A Palm Coast man who was wanted on a Jacksonville warrant was arrested last week, but not before he tried to fight off K-9 Reno, of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the R-section home of Quinten Scarbor, 25, around 11:45 p.m. Friday, July 13, in reference to an active warrant out of Jacksonville.
When deputies arrived at the home, Scarbor was located near back porch area, according to the report.
When the deputy identified himself, Scarbor ran to the front of the residence. Then, K-9 Reno was ordered to give chase. Scarbor ran into the back of a neighbor’s pickup truck. Reno proceeded to follow into the pickup truck, but Scarbor then jumped out and continued to run, the report states.
Reno followed and was able to apprehend Scarbor in the front yard of a neighbor’s home.
“While the defendant was being apprehended by K-9 Reno, (Scarbor) was actively fighting him, striking (Reno) multiple times,” according to the report.
Another Sheriff’s Office deputy then deployed his taser and Scarbor was placed into custody. Scarbor was treated on the scene and then transported to Florida Hospital Flagler, where he was medically cleared.
K-9 Reno was not injured, according to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Debra Johnson.
Scarbor was arrested on additional charges of battery on a police dog and resisting arrest without violence. He was transferred to the Flagler County Inmate Facility on $3,000 bond for those two charges.
