Jamie Ina Miller, 32, who was discovered with her children in a feces-ridden home last summer, pled no contest July 19 on four counts of child neglect.
She was sentenced by Judge Raul Zambrano to five years of probation and is required to follow all recommendations of the Department of Children and Families, attend parenting classes, maintain a sanitary household, not own or care for any pets and also to perform 150 hours of community service.
Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office visited Miller’s home in July 2011 on a complaint by the landlord. Miller had lived at the apartment on 304 W. Moody Blvd., Bunnell, for two years.
Four children lived with Miller. When the deputies arrived, they estimated that several animals had been left inside the residence for about three days, judging from the amount of feces. There was no visible water or food. Animal Control officers who responded described the residence as “unlivable,” and that there was “an infestation of roaches too numerous to estimate.”
