Flagler County Public Schools is holding a school uniform shirt drive from now until July 31.
The district has adopted a school uniform policy for the 2012-2013 school year.
“We are asking our community to be a partner with the dedicated faculty and staff of Flagler County Schools in an effort to support tomorrow’s community leaders,” said Sabrina Crosby, special projects coordinator for the district.
Each school is working to build a uniform closet which can meet the needs of children and families who need assistance with school clothing. To date, 60% of Flagler County students qualify for free and/or reduced lunch, 308 students are experiencing homelessness, and 150 students are in foster care.
New and gently used collared short or long sleeve polos, button-up dress shirts or Oxford-style uniform shirts can be dropped off at any Flagler County Public School. The uniform shirts must be solid color.
District colors for all schools are black, white and gray.
In addition, individual school colors are Bunnell, blue and green; Matanzas, royal blue and pink; Belle Terre, royal blue and powder blue; Old Kings, royal blue and pink; Buddy Taylor, blue and green; Phoenix, green; Flagler Palm Coast, green and pink; Rymfire, burgundy and beige; Indian Trails, maroon and gold; and Wadsworth, blue and red.
If you are interested in being a collection site for uniform shirts, or if you would like to contribute or
