Buttercream was flowing, and pins were spinning Wednesday, June 20, at the cake decorating workshop held at the Flagler County Public Library.

The workshop was presented by Sandi Zagorski, Publix store No. 77 assistant bakery manager, and Susie Berwaldt, bakery employee.

During the workshop, the two experienced cake decorators started with the basics, by instructing attendees on border techniques, how to make icing roses and rose petals and the more tedious task of scripting.

Buttercream was the frosting of choice because it is the most stable of all frostings, according to Zagorski, who has been in the bakery business for 20 years.

Among the attendees was 16-year-old Samantha House, who has dabbled in cake decorating before, but wanted to learn more. House was inspired by her aunt, who is a pastry chef.

The library plans to hold another cake decorating workshop in July.
