What’s in a fake name?
1 a.m. — 1400 Block of Palm Coast Parkway Northwest. Traffic stop. A man was stopped when he was observed squealing his tires at a gas station and running a stop sign. The man gave his name. But when the deputy said he was going to check his name in the system, the man ran away on foot into a wooded area.
When the man was finally apprehended, his driver’s license revealed he had given a false name. He was a habitual traffic offender with a suspended license and was transported to the jail without incident.
Growing problem
7:16 p.m. — First Block of Burning Bush Place. Disturbance verbal. A deputy responded to a verbal disturbance. The victim, a 56-year-old woman, accused her son of yelling at her and using profane language. He said she was in the early stages of dementia and often made up stories.
The woman then invited the deputy to inspect the residence. He discovered a black tarp hanging up in one of the bedrooms. The woman moved the tarp to reveal three buckets with brown stones inside, a small air conditioner hanging from the ceiling, silver tubing coming from the closet, a board over the window and a fluorescent light hanging from the ceiling.
The deputy had reason to believe the equipment was used for cultivating marijuana. He then located the son and questioned him. The son said he uses the bedroom for growing tomatoes and parsley.
“Why don’t you grow it outside?” the deputy asked.
The son did not respond; then he became agitated and said again that he doesn’t have anything illegal. The case was turned over to a detective.
