Crashes make me hungry for bananas

June 25

8:35 a.m. — First Block of Boulder Rock Drive. Crash-hit and run accident. A victim stated that he was waiting for a light to turn green when a white pickup truck rear-ended him and left the scene. A witness observed the pickup truck stop at a parking lot down the road and attempt to fix his bumper.

A deputy arrived and observed the white pickup truck with front-end damage, but there was no driver. Then, the deputy saw a man in a white T-shirt “retreat” into a store in the parking lot. He was located hiding behind a banana display cart in the produce department.

“I was waiting for you,” the suspect said. He said he didn’t want to block traffic, so he drove to the parking lot.

It should be noted that the crash occurred approximately one mile away from the parking lot where the suspect was waiting. He said he went inside to buy a banana.

The suspect was placed under arrest for leaving the scene of a crash and failure to report a crash. He was taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility without incident.
