The second-annual Hot Foods N' Spicy Blues Festival attracted almost 900 people, Feb. 18, at the Florida Agricultural Museum.
The event, which featured Bill "The Sauce Boss" Wharton, was held to benefit the Museum and Feed Flagler, a local support group for hungry folks in Flagler County.
Attendees donated a truckload of nonperishable food items on behalf of Feed Flagler. Museum Director Bruce Piatek presented the food along with a check for $218 to the Rev. Charles Silano, of Grace Community Food Pantry, for distribution. The pantry is administered by Grace Tabernacle Ministries International.
Since 1990, the Sauce Boss has cooked gumbo for more than 175,000 people, all for free. Planet Gumbo (planetgumbo.org), a nonprofit 501c3 organization, donates performances and gumbo to homeless shelters all over the country.
Bright House Networks, Beach 92.7 FM, WNZF News Radio, 100.9 FM Radio, the Palm Coast Observer, and Dave's A1 Auto Parts and Sales sponsored the event.
The museum is planning on repeating the event next year.
