In honor of a birthday at the Palm Coast Observer, I spent last night slaving in the kitchen to crank out 24 Cookies and Cream Cupcakes.
Today we are celebrating the 24th birthday of our Design Editor Mallorie Bruce. Maldigs, as I like to call her, is responsible for the overall design and layout of the Observer. Often times she works all night rearranging pages to fit last minute news stories and photos that we say “have to be in.”
Coincidently, Oreo also celebrated a birthday this week. The delicious chocolate and cream sandwich cookie turned 100 years old. And to combine the celebrations, I made them a prime ingredient, folding chunks into the batter and using them as a garnish.
The Oreo is now 100
And the baker's face is vermilion
Because his little cookie
Has sold 620 billion
It won't win any Oscars
Or fancy awards like that
It just keeps tasting good
And making us kids fat
Yet on this auspicious occasion
I'll tip my own chapeau
While reaching into the Oreo box
'Cause I just gotta have one mo'
