Flagler Palm Coast scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night, and the Lady Bulldogs defeated District 1-8A rival Sandalwood, 3-2, in extra innings.
The game remained scoreless through seven innings. In the eight, Sandalwood scored two innings in the top half. But the Lady Bulldogs responded in the bottom half of the inning.
Lee Ann Spivey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIS, tied the game in the eighth. Then, Tori Giaccone had the game-winning hit and RBI in the eighth, driving in Destiny Kelly. Sam Mittel and Kelly both went 2-for-4.
Sophomore pitcher Morgan Lambert (9-1) allowed five hits in eight innings while striking out 19 batters.
FPC improved to 9-1 and 2-1 in District 1-8A play.
Matanzas tennis sweeps Orange Park
The Matanzas High School boys and girls tennis teams swept Orange Park Tuesday.
The boys team won the match, 6-1.
