+ Matanzas softball loses district matchup
Eight errors doomed the Matanzas Lady Pirates softball team Wednesday night, and they lost to Ponte Vedra, 16-4, in a District 4-5A matchup.
The loss puts Matanzas in a tie for the No. 2 seed, but the Lady Pirates will need to beat Pedro Menendez when they square off next week.
Matanzas (5-9) was led by Amber Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two singles and one RBI.
+ Flagler PAL honors All-American Scholars
The Flagler Police Athletic League had 15 football players and three cheerleaders recently selected as 2011-2012 Pop Warner National All-American Scholars.

+ Bulldogs lacrosse beats Winter Springs
The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs boys lacrosse team defeated Winter Springs, 12-9, Tuesday night.
Bulldogs senior goalie Conor Bertha had 17 saves — 11 in the second half. Ryan King had 12 clean faceoff wins, giving FPC 50% of the possession.
Wes Adams led the team in scoring with three goals and had seven assists.
+ Matanzas weightlifting remains perfect
The Matanzas Iron Pirates kept their season perfect with a 47-42 win Wednesday over Keystone Heights. Richard McCune (119 pounds), Chris Santana (129), Matt Whalen (139), Watson Stevens (183), Joel Manning (219) and Shawn White (238) won their weight classes.
