Haley Lademann had 57 shutouts in four years.

With family, teammates and coaches in attendance Wednesday morning, Flagler Palm Coast senior goalkeeper Haley Lademann signed an athletic scholarship to play soccer at Shorter University, in Rome, Ga.

Shorter was previously a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, but applied and was accepted to join the Gulf South Conference in NCAA’s Division II.

The 2012-2013 school year will be the first year Shorter is an NCAA athletics school, but it won’t be eligible for NCAA championships until after the 2013-2014 school year.

Last year, Shorter went 7-11, losing to Mobile, 1-0, in the South States Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

FPC coach Pete Hald said Lademann was the most technical keeper he has ever coached.

“Combine this with her decision making on the field, and she’s the best keeper ever at FPC, and I have had some very strong keepers,” Hald said.

FPC Athletics Director Steve DeAugustino said Lademann was a first-class lady on and off the field in her four years.

Lademann leaves FPC as one of the best keepers in Lady Bulldogs’ history — if not the best. She helped lead FPC to a 22-4-2 record her senior year, tallying 20 shutouts. The previous record was 15. As a junior, Lademann had 13 shutouts and 57 for her career. In 28 games as a senior, she allowed just eight goals.

Lademann was also the only four-year starting varsity keeper for Hald.

“Haley is one of the most dedicated players I’ve ever coached,” Hald said. “(She is) dedicated to be great at the game and at the keeper position.

“Haley will be very successful in college, and Shorter College is so lucky to get a keeper of her quality.”
