+ Bulldogs baseball falls in district championship
Flagler Palm Coast lost to Sandalwood, 5-3, Thursday, April 26, in the District 1-8A championship game.
Sandalwood took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and then tacked on another two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Bulldogs (13-13) scored two runs in the top of the sixth, but their rally fell short.
Travis Cochran went 2-for-4 with a double in the game against Sandalwood. Lorenza Williams and Dakota Wehde each had an RBI.
Nick Myers started on the hill for FPC, going 2 2/3 innings, giving up four earned runs, seven hits and two walks.
Brett Cain came on in relief and pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed one run on four hits and struck out two.
In the first round of the Class 8A state playoffs, the Bulldogs will play Spruce Creek 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Spruce Creek.
In the first game of the season, FPC lost to Spruce Creek, 2-1, on a walk-off double.
+ New football league coming to Flagler County
Flagler American Youth Football is a new youth football league for Flagler County pigskin enthusiasts.
The nonprofit tackle football league is a member of the Florida Youth Football and Cheer Conference and will feature age divisions from kindergarten through eighth grade.
There are three different payment options. The least expensive is $100 per player, but shoulder pads and helmet aren’t included. The most expensive option is $200 per player and that includes buying a helmet and shoulder pads from the league, which the player can keep.

+ McFarlane signs with Elmira College
Flagler Palm Coast senior forward Brendan McFarlane recently signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Elmira College, in Elmira, N.Y.
Elmira is an NCAA Division III school. Last season, the Soaring Eagles went 1-24.
McFarlane was co-captain for the Bulldogs this season, leading the team to a school-best 22-6 finish.
During his senior season, McFarlane averaged 6.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. Often times, he was tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best big man.
McFarlane is an International Baccalaureate student, was named a Rotary Club Athlete of the Month and was a three-year varsity letterman.
