The Jacksonville Jaguars announced last week its first-ever Jaguars Caravan, a new initiative to generate excitement and recruit fans for the Jaguars in cities across Northeast and Central Florida and Southeast Georgia, according to a team release.

The Jaguars Caravan will put players, coaches, ROAR cheerleaders and other special guests in the traveling Jaguars RV. The caravan will hit seven cities.

Mark Lamping, president of the Jaguars, acknowledges that a lot of Jaguars fans live beyond the five-county area near Jacksonville.

“We’re working hard to build and expand our fan base,” Lamping said. “And we want these fans to have the opportunity to meet some of the players they root for on Sundays. The caravans should be a lot of fun, and we hope to see a great turnout in each city.”

At each stop, the RV will arrive filled with coaches, players and cheerleaders who will meet with and sign autographs for their fans amidst a festival, rally-like, family-friendly atmosphere with music, food, interactive and inflatable games and drawings for prizes from the Jaguars and local vendors. All Jaguars Caravan stops are free and open to the public. Each caravan stop will also include a visit to a local community center by the group.

Details on the Palm Coast stop are as follows:
TIME: 6-8 p.m.
DATE: Monday, June 4
WHERE: Winn Dixie, 111 Flagler Plaza Drive, 32137
SCHEDULED PARTICIPANTS: Tony Boselli, Terrance Knighton, Tyson Alualu, Derek Cox, Andre Branch, Brandon Marshall, Jeris Pendleton

The first 2012 Jaguars game will be Aug. 10, at EverBank Field against defending Super Bowl champions the New York Giants.

The Jaguars head into the 2012 season with a new coach, new owner and a revamped offense. Mike Mularkey takes over as head coach — coming from the Atlanta Falcons. New owner Shahid Khan has made his presence felt early when the Jaguars drafted wide receiver Justin Blackmon with the fifth-overall pick in last month’s draft. Blackmon will team up with WRs Laurent Robinson and veteran Lee Evans, providing second-year quarterback Blaine Gabbert with more weapons.
