Imagine School at Town Center was awarded a 2012 Promising Practices Award by The Character Education Partnership for its campaign, Stomp Out Name Calling.
The Character Education Partnership announced its annual Promising Practices in Character Education award to 297 initiatives submitted by schools and districts from across the United States, Brazil, Canada, and Hong Kong. Promising Practices awards highlight the unique and specific strategies used on campuses and across organizations to help students become better scholars, citizens, friends, and leaders.
Imagine Schools at Town Center joins eight other Imagine campuses and the Imagine national office in receiving this award for the school’s initiatives to develop students’ character.
“Our goal at Imagine Town Center is to hone in on positive resolution strategies in ways, to empower our youngest stakeholders to care for each other and to be a name calling free campus,” said Tracey Toth, character coach at the school.
Eileen Bakke, vice president of Education for Imagine Schools, said: “We are proud of Imagine Town Center for showcasing a character education best practice that will help students become responsible, capable, and caring leaders. At Imagine we believe that character formation, leadership and service are important cornerstones of a quality education, high academic performance, and life-long success. We appreciate CEP’s recognition of Imagine Town Center’s promising practice.”
Character development is one of Imagine Schools’ six measures of excellence. Rather than a simple program added on to the school day, character initiatives are integrated into all aspects of the school day.
Award recipients will be honored at the annual Promising Practice ceremony at the CEP National Forum on Character Education, Nov. 1, in Washington, D.C.
