Florida Hospital Flagler hosted a barbecue lunch Tuesday, May 22, to honor emergency medical personnel.

Members of the Palm Coast, Flagler Beach and Flagler County emergency services joined the staff of the emergency room for the meal, which coincided with National Emergency Medical Services Week, May 21 through May 25.

National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to increase safety awareness and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services on the front line of medicine.

“We interact with these guys on a daily basis, but we haven’t really said, ‘Thank you for what you do,’ and ‘We know your job’s hard,’” said Dr. Andrew Coleman, medical director. “Sometimes we all are so caught up in taking care of patients that we don’t get to spend any time together to get to know each other. So, that’s the goal today, to say thanks to both the departments.”
