A 61-year-old driver was listed in serious condition Thursday morning after his van flipped over on Interstate 95, near mile-marker 284, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Arthur J. Richards, of Sanford, was traveling northbound in the center lane around 7:22 a.m., when the right rear tire to his 2008 Ford van suffered a tread separation, according to the report.

The van began to rotate counterclockwise, and Richards lost control. He then crossed over the left northbound lane and entered the median shoulder. Richards then overturned and vaulted over the guardrail.

The van came to a rest on its roof, facing southwest in the southbound median, partially blocking the left lane, the report states.

Lanes were closed for a short period of time Thursday morning, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
