Four years ago, Intracoastal Bank, a locally owned financial institution, opened in Palm Coast with the goal to be a hometown community bank.
“Flagler County needed a community bank," said Laurie Alves, vice president/office manager. "It was the only county that didn’t have a community bank."
The bank philosophy is to provide great service with local decision making, and help people starting businesses.
“If somebody just needs to come in and talk to us, we have no problem with that,” Alves said. “Bruce Page, our CEO, mentors young people. He is very involved with the Business Assistance Center."
Alves said the bank is financially strong due to deposits that are brought in and loaned out locally.
“That’s why we’ve grown so much and lent out $86 million in loans, all local, nothing out of state,” Alves said. “The deposits we bring in get lent out locally.”
Services offered to businesses and individuals are often more than what can be found in larger national banks.
“We belong to an organization that gives our customers 50,000 ATMs to use throughout the country,” Alves said. “We have the best online banking with remote deposit capture.”
Businesses can take advantage of the bank’s courier services, and if banking services are needed outside normal hours, appointments for businesses can be arranged.
Intracoastal is also a subchapter S bank.
“S-corporation banks are typically long-term banks, not to grow and sell,” Alves said. “We are going to be part of the community for a long time.”
