In a crowded room Nov. 11, at the Hilton Garden Inn, about 70 people traveled around the world.
Mark Gerling, owner of Flagler Beach agency Gerling Travel, introduced winners of the It’s Read Everywhere contest, in conjunction with the Palm Coast Observer. The contest works like this: Vacationers bring a copy of the newspaper with them as they travel. They take a photo and email it Gerling, who compiles them into a slide show. Then, he selects winners in several categories, as well as a grand winner. The final winner is awarded two $300 vouchers for a future trip.
The grand winner, Skipper Hanzel, was pictured hang-gliding over Interlaken, Switzerland. Readers are encouraged to attempt space travel for next year’s contest, which begins today.
Gerling said that of the more than 150 entries, he had a hard time picking a winner. “I’m looking for a picture that makes me say, ‘How did they get that shot?’” he said. Email entries, including first and last names of everyone in the picture, as well as the location where it was taken, to [email protected].
