Europa closes indefinitely

Ambroz Ferrena, who runs Europa Lounge & Bistro with his sister, Alida Ferrena, announced Nov. 8 that the lounge will be closed until further notice.

In a post on the lounge’s Facebook page, Ambroz Ferrena said his mother became sick about six months ago and, after spending time in the hospital and a nursing home, returned home in June.

“My family and I have been struggling with her care and, even with help from professional caregivers, her care has become increasingly difficult,” the post says.

Ferrena wrote that the circumstances have made it impossible for him and his sister to spend enough time on their businesses.

“We have been faced by a difficult choice between my mother’s care and the restaurant, and have chosen the former,” the post says.

Captain’s BBQ launches catering service

After opening several months ago, Captain’s BBQ has begun offering both on- and off-site catering for special events. The service offers food similar to the dine-in menu, which currently features chili and pumpkin cheesecake as seasonal choices.

Another addition to the restaurant’s offerings is live music. In late summer, the restaurant began hosting local musicians from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturdays. Captain’s hosts mostly jazz, blues and oldies artists, but includes those from different genres as well.

Captain’s BBQ is at 5862 N. Oceanshore Blvd., Palm Coast. The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, and its adjoining fisherman’s store opens at 6 a.m. Call 597-2888.

For catering options, call the restaurant or email [email protected].
