Students from kindergarten through eighth grade learned from 15 groups of professionals ranging from firefighters to engineers Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Global Outreach Charter Academy, for the Great American Teach In.

The focus of the nationwide day was to encourage students to stay in school.

“Children from any environmental situation need to know that in order to succeed, although they may not like school, they need it for their future,” said Delores Mikos, support services coordinator at the school and organizer of the event.

Mikos said she hopes to grow the event for next year.
