Autopsy confirms post office employee suicide

Local post office employees found their coworker inside her vehicle in the parking lot.

A post office employee committed suicide outside of her beachside work location, at 55 E. Granada Blvd., Tuesday afternoon.

Patricia Hampton, 45, of Port Orange, was found in her vehicle in the parking lot, with a gunshot wound to the chest. An autopsy was conducted Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Several coworkers found Hampton in her vehicle, pulled her out to attempt CPR and found a handgun in the driver’s side door.
