The Hammock Dunes Community Development District Board of Supervisors recently approved a 43% reduction in the prepaid discount toll schedule, which went into effect Oct. 1, for the Hammock Dunes Toll Bridge.
“The board had reduced the prepaid rates in January 2011 and determined this additional reduction could be accomplished while still providing for long-term maintenance and repairs costs to insure this critical transportation link is kept in top condition,” according to a press release.
According to the release, approximately 20,000 residents and businesses utilize the prepaid discount plan.
The new single rate prepaid discount plan provides that a minimum payment of $20 or more will result in a net cost of 50 cents per trip.
Previous prepaid toll schedule is as follows:
$20 plan provides 23 trips, or an effective cost of 88 cents per trip
$100 plan provides 121 trips, or an effective cost of 82 cents per trip
$250 plan provides 322 trips, or an effective cost of 78 cents per trip
New single-rate prepaid toll schedule is as follows:
$20 payment or more provides two trips for $1, or a cost of 50 cents per trip.
As of Oct. 1, the outstanding balances on all new, existing and renewals of prepaid accounts will be automatically adjusted to reflect the new single-rate prepaid discount toll schedules. No additional action is required by existing prepaid account customers to receive the benefits of the new reduced toll rates.
The change to the prepaid discount toll schedules does not affect the current one-way cash toll schedule.
Current cash toll schedule (unchanged, and per trip) is as follows:
2-axle vehicles: $2
3-axle vehicles: $3
4-axle vehicles: $3.50
5 axles or more: $5
“The prepaid discount plans offer you two significant advantages over cash payments: 1) four times as many trips across the bridge, and 2) greater convenience because the toll attendant simply scans a Dunes CDD UPC sticker on your car or card,” the release states.
Applications for the new prepaid discount plans will be available after Oct. 1, and may be picked up at the toll bridge booths or bridge office.
