Fifty attendees dressed for tea Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Flagler Humane Society's sold-out Queen of Hearts Tea, held at Shakespeare’s English Tea Room, in European Village.

"We are just overwhelmed by the support of the community," said Elizabeth Robinson, events coordinator with the Flagler Humane Society.

Funds raised at the tea are hoped to offset expenses incurred by the increased number if animals at the shelter.

To help with the overcrowding, for the month of October, any pit bull or pit mix will be available for adoption for $25. The shelter is also continuing its 30 day/$30 special for all dogs that have been in the shelter for more than 30 days.

For general inquiries, contact [email protected]; for cat adoptions, contact [email protected]; and for dog adoptions, contact [email protected]. The shelter is open10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
