Hannah Loder: Rotary’s Athlete of the Month
Hannah Loder, a senior at Matanzas High School, was named as the Rotary Student-Athlete of the Month for October.

Loder is a runner on the Lady Pirates cross-country and track teams.

Loder has a laundry list of accomplishments in her four years of running at Matanzas, and she’ll likely graduate as the most decorated runner in school history.

This year, she’s been the individual champion at the Spikes and Spurs Classic, Mt. Dora Bible Bulldogs Invitational and the Key West Conch XCursion. She has a personal record of 18 minutes, 47 seconds, and a season best this year 18:59.

She has been named an All-Conference cross-country runner in 2010 and 2011 and an All-Conference track runner in 2011 (3,200-meters conference champion).

Her success has led to Division I schools recruiting her. She likely will make a school decision after the cross-country season, said Matanzas coach James Wolfe.

“Hannah is a tremendous young lady who is incredibly dedicated to succeeding not only in our sport, but in the classroom and the community as well,” Wolfe said. “She has set a fine example for her teammates, and has set some lofty standards for those who follow.

“Hannah has a very bright future in front of her, and I am very excited to see what she is able to accomplish going forward.”

Matanzas will compete in the St. Johns River Athletic Conference Saturday, Oct. 20, in Middleburg. Then, Matanzas will host the district championships Saturday, Nov. 3, at Princess Place Preserve. The girls race at 9:30 a.m., followed by the boys at 10:10.

Major soccer events coming to Indian Trails Sports Complex
The Indian Trails Sports Complex will host the 2013 Region B Cup Finals March 16-17, 2013, according to Reg Monsanto, of FC United.

All Region B Cup Final Four games will be played at the complex.

“This is a great honor, and proof that we know how to do it right,” Monsanto said. “The state has moved us up the list, and we have become one of the most sought after host venue and host club.”

In addition, Indian Trails will be the site for the Olympic Development Program Super Center, which will take place Jan. 26-27, 2013. Then, top level coaches will be in town to train ODP candidates.

Also, FC United of Florida's U17B Super Y team has qualified for the 2012 USL Super Y-League North American Finals, presented by Umbro, which will be Dec. 7-11, at IMG Academies in Bradenton.
