A 17-year-old Flagler County student was arrested Thursday morning by Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a felony charge of arson following a fire in a school bathroom Tuesday afternoon.

Joshua Lowe, of Palm Coast, was caught on surveillance video Tuesday entering the boy’s restroom in the cafeteria of Matanzas High School around 3:42 p.m., according to the report.

At 3:44 p.m., he is seen leaving the restroom, and at 3:48 p.m., sprinklers for the fire system went on because of the fire in the restroom.

School officials said no one else was seen entering the restroom during that time frame.

Deputies said that at the time of the incident, about 50 students were inside the cafeteria. No one was injured, and damage was estimated at $1,000.

Lowe was arrested and transported to the Division of Youth Services in Daytona Beach.
