But I only ever hit a tree, I promise
8:19 p.m. — 200 Block of Bird of Paradise Drive. Hit and Run. A deputy was on patrol on Florida Park Drive when a silver Toyota pulled out of 1 Florida Park Drive traveling north, causing the deputy to brake rapidly to avoid a crash. The vehicle made a wide turn with half of the car traveling in the southbound travel lanes before turning west onto Palm Coast Parkway.

The deputy followed the vehicle and ran its license plate only to find that it was the same vehicle reported to have hit a mailbox on Bird of Paradise Drive 40 minutes earlier. The deputy performed a traffic stop to find the driver inside spoke with slow, slightly slurred speech and smelled faintly of alcohol. The deputy also smelled unburned cannabis coming from the car.

The suspect insisted that he’d been with friends in the R-section, not near Bird of Paradise Drive, but he refused to give names or phone numbers of these friends. He said the damage to his vehicle was from hitting some tree branches months earlier. Another deputy brought the mailbox in question to the scene and found the damage on the suspect’s vehicle to be consistent with the damage to the mailbox.

The suspect declined to participate in field sobriety exercises. Deputies found cannabis in the suspect’s vehicle, so he was transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility and read implied consent. He was charged with possession of cannabis over 20 grams, driving under the influence with property damage and driving under the influence.

The suspect entered the store and selected multiple pieces of clothing and placed them into his shopping cart. The suspect then walked to the front of the store where the registers are located and began to bag the items he had in his shopping cart.

He then passed by the empty register without paying for any of the items and exited the doors of the grocery side of the store, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. While you were sleeping
7:56 p.m. — 1500 Block of Candleberry Street. Burglary. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a victim that said he believed somebody was inside his residence, which the victim had formerly lived in and where he still had some personal belongings. A responding deputy observed a fire burning in the backyard of the residence and an interior light on inside the residence.

Deputies knocked on the door and a suspect answered the front door and, when questioned, said he did not live in the residence and believed it to be in foreclosure. The suspect was placed in custody. The suspect was half-dressed and appeared to be using the home to sleep.

Later, some items were missing from within the home, including 80 feet to 220 feet of electrical cable. Deputies think the suspect was melting items to recycle the copper wiring for money at a later time.
