1. Why should people vote for you instead of your opponent?

I am neither a lobbyist nor a politician. I have no hidden agenda, and I answer to no one but the voters. My qualifications include a master’s degree in educational leadership. I taught in the public school system for more than 30 years, and I have lived in Florida for more than a decade. I have worked politically on the local level for several years, holding various offices within the Democratic Party in St. Johns County. I was elected to represent our state at the National Convention, and those who know me understand that I am working diligently every day to make a positive difference in my community.

I believe that the systematic privatization of our government is fundamentally changing how our government operates. I don’t believe our citizens are being served as they should be, and I intend to work effectively on their behalf, with transparency and accountability, so that the voters can see where their tax dollars are being spent.

I intend to address the serious misappropriation of our public school funding into charter schools, and I will work to fully fund our public education system annually before the state is allowed to divert tax dollars to corporate-run schools that have no accountability to the voters.

2. What would you do to bring jobs and businesses to Florida?

Corporate tax incentives are already available from the state government, but what we consistently hear from small business owners is that funding from banks is delaying and denying entrepreneurs and small business owners the capital they need to expand and grow their businesses in Florida.

There are thousands of Floridians that are skilled and capable of growing our local economy. Our citizens in Florida should have access to the capital made available through partnerships between private and public sectors. State and federal agreements with the banks should be put in place so that our small businesses have access to the capital they need to grow our economy, create jobs and bring greater stability to our state.

3. What would you do to improve the housing market?

Florida homeowners are hurting, and the housing market has been hit hard. The rate of depends on land development, and it has become the greatest tourist destination in America.

Housing starts and the great rate of relocation to our state has been a cornerstone to our economy. Our citizens were victimized and were caught up in the financing epidemic perpetrated by unscrupulous banks, and home values were inflated. The federal government has recently partnered with the national banks to help homeowners who are upside down on their mortgage refinance and save thousands of dollars a year. Programs like this will spare our citizens from the devastation of foreclosure, and those dollars that are saved will be invested into our recovering economy.

As we continue to develop our great state and share it with the world, we must pay greater attention to how we utilize our resources. Controlling housing development in our counties and preventing urban sprawl will prevent the market from becoming saturated with new homes. Our counties will be able to invest in the services that our citizens need, and the infrastructure needed for development will be in place prior to construction.
