A large stack of playing cards towered over two large tables filled with lotions, candy and other stocking-stuffers Oct. 19, at the at the Palm Coast Woman’s club general meeting.

The women filled 40 large stockings, hand-made by the club’s president, Pat Kane, with the donated items. All the stocking will be sent to deployed soldiers as part of "Operation Shoebox."

This is the sixth year the club has participated in the project.

The national project was founded in 2003 to send support to men and women deployed outside the United States, to help raise their morale and let them know they are cared about.
