Kiwanis Club recognizes Senior of the Month
Evan Johnson and Maeve Dineen were recognized as the October Seniors of the Month from their respective Flagler County high schools, by the Flagler/Palm Coast Kiwanis Club. Each received a certificate of recognition for their outstanding academic achievement and participation in extra curricular activities both within their schools and in the community.

Dineen is a senior at Flagler Palm Coast High School. She is in the International Baccalaureate diploma program, president of the Key Club, and a member of the Future Problem Solvers. She is also a member of the band, varsity soccer and flag football teams.

Dineen has served as a camp counselor for the Marine Science Coastal Explorations Camp and the Flagler County 4-H program and is actively involved in her church. She has been admitted to the University of South Florida and plans to major in biology/microbiology and forensic anthropology.

Johnson is a senior at Matanzas High School. He is in the Advanced Placement program and has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. He is also vice president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Leo's Club and received the American Legion Good Citizenship Citation.

Johnson is captain of the Pirates swim team and does volunteer work with Special Olympics and academic tutoring. He plans to attend college and major in the biomedical sciences in a pre-med program.

Students work together on underwater art project
Deanna Molinaro, of Indian Trails Middle School, Summer Holloway and Antonio Cass, both of Belle Terre Elementary School, Samantha Smith, of Buddy Taylor Middle School, and Jacob Martins, of Belle Terre Elementary School, worked together to put the final touches on their new collaborative work, "Undersea Adventure II."

This mixed-media wall-hanging will be on display at the Exceptional Student Education Department, in the Government Services Building. It was created under the direction of VSA Florida Teaching Artist Chris Kastle as part of a continuing series of after-school art classes.

Global Outreach to host Teach-In
The Global Outreach Charter Academy will host its first Great American Teach-In Nov. 15.

The Great American Teach-In is a nationwide effort dedicated to teach students that citizenship means asking questions, finding answers and standing up for what you believe in.

The school is currently seeking parents and volunteers who are able to teach students about various career fields and to encourage them to seek higher educational opportunities.
