The Palm Coast Arts Foundation and the City Council have agreed to lease terms for a parcel of land in Town Center, just east of EPIC Theatres.
“This is one of those projects that you actually have been working on for a long time,” City Manager Jim Landon said. “The economy kind of put it on hold for a while, but we have some people who are interested to see if they can’t kick it off again.”
The agreement is one of the first steps for the Palm Coast Arts Foundation to construct a multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art events center. The price tag for the first wing of the center: $5 million to $8 million.
The city owns the lot, which was donated by Palm Coast Holdings, the developer of Town Center.
The concept began earlier this year, when representatives from the Palm Coast Arts Foundation presented its concept in July to the City Council.
The lease agreement is a five-year term with a possible five-year extension. The city can terminate the lease at any time with a three-day notice. More details will be worked out once construction begins.
