One-hunded-and-three participants gathered Sunday morning in Veteran’s Park, in Flagler Beach, to remember those who fought or have lost their lives to breast cancer.

They weren’t there to light candles or tell stories. Instead, they were there to practice planks and roll-ups, because it was time for Pilates in the Park.

“The Flagler community continues to inspire me with support in raising awareness for saving lives through mammograms,” said organizer Kelly Lohman Collum.

This is the third year Collum has put on Pilates in the Park in conjunction with Florida Hospital Flagler. This year, the event raised $1,900 to go toward mammograms.

Things were done slightly differently this year, though. The first 45 minutes of the session featured Pilates , and the final 45 minutes featured yoga. Both sessions were taught by instructors of Palm Coast’s Hot Yoga Lounge.

This year’s event also featured two guest speakers: Jean Fitzgerald, a breast cancer survivor, and Bill Toll, development officer for Florida Hospital Flagler.
