At the city of Palm Coast’s third-annual Seafood Festival Nov. 3 and 4, Team Sandtastic will spend the weekend creating a 25-ton, massive sand sculpture with the centerpiece being the new “Palm Coast & the Flagler Beaches” logo of the Flagler County Tourist Development Council, surrounded by sea creatures sculpted in sand.
A photo contest is planned for the sand sculpture portion of the festival.
Artists Patrick Harsch and Steve Schomaker will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. Sand-sculpting will continue through the weekend — during daylight hours — with the sculpture being completed by 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. The team has held the current Guinness World Record for sand sculpture since 1998 when it built a castle that stood 28 feet, 7.25 inches.
As part of its new three-year strategic plan, the Flagler County Tourist Development Council is repositioning the area as “Palm Coast and the Flagler Beaches.” A new logo has been developed and will be incorporated into the www.PalmCoastandtheFlaglerBeaches.com website, online and print advertisements, and new collateral materials that will be developed in the coming year. The Tourism Office will continue to promote all of the tourism assets in the county, with recognition of the individual communities of Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, Bunnell, Beverly Beach, Marineland and the addition of the Hammock.
Rules for the photo contest are as follows:
• A vertical format is preferred for the cover shot, with negative space allowing room for name of the publication.
• Camera ready artwork, 300 dpi or higher, is also preferred.
• The photo must be emailed along with a completed, signed entry form.
Entry forms can be picked up in person at the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce Affiliates, 20 Airport Road., Suite B or C, online at www.palmcoastgov.com (click on the Seafood Festival icon) or at the Seafood Festival entry gate.
Submit your photo and completed entry form to [email protected] by Monday, Nov. 12. Winners will be notified by Nov. 30.

There will be refreshments provided while the children wait for their turn to shop. Flagler Volunteer Services volunteers will escort the children through the store section and help the children wrap their selections.
