The Flagler County Auditorium is preparing for its 2012-2013 season, which will mark its 21st year bringing productions to the community.
“We’ve been getting ready to run really hard and get back into things,” said Lisa DeVitt, the facility’s director. “We’ve miss everyone during our time off.”
The season will open with the United States Air Force Academy Band, which is a free event. Tickets for the show, which starts in early October, will be available at 9 a.m. on Sept. 8.
The Flagler Auditorium is a non-profit organization that works to bring low-cost productions to the community and to foster arts education in children. The facility organizes shows for high school students, teaches them theater tech and has an internship program.
“I’m lucky; my job is very fulfilling,” DeVitt said. “Some of the kids I knew as freshmen in high school are getting ready to graduate college and they say how important the Auditorium was to them. It’s really fulfilling to see that we’ve made such a real difference.”
