To sum up the play of Pat Gould’s U16 Florida Force soccer team during the Atlanta Cup last weekend, in one word: domination.
Gould’s team, which comprises players from Flagler County, went undefeated en route to the tournament title. The Atlanta Cup is one of the largest Labor Day tournaments in the Southeastern United States.
En route to the title, the team scored 24 goals and allowed just six.
“(The team) was a joy to watch the entire weekend — showing stretches of brilliant play and coalescing as a team,” Gould said.
The team averaged five goals per game in the three-day tournament.
“Five games against quality opponents in three days — hot and very humid, on-and-off rain, bruised and battered, but far from broken,” Gould said.
This was the first time Gould’s team has swept an event.
