How are you remembering? There are several Sept. 11 remembrance events happening in Flagler County starting Saturday, Sept. 8, with a day of service at the Hidden Trails Community Center and ending the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 11, with a candlelight vigil at Amvets.
The schedule of events is as follows:
A Day of Community Service and Remembrance — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Hidden Trails Daytona North, 6108 Mahogany Blvd., Bunnell. Northeast Florida Community Action Agency and community partners will lead an observance of Sept. 11 with activities including disaster preparation and making low-cost healthy meals. Free event. 'Memories of Sept. 11’ Program — 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway N.W. Hosted by Brandon Seymour, a St. Augustine firefighter. A movie will follow the presentation.
9/11 Memorial Ceremony — 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Elks Lodge, 53 Old Kings Road. The 90-minute memorial will honor all victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the war on terror. Open to the public; seating will be limited. Food and refreshments available after ceremony for $10 per person.
Framing our Future — Noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 47 Becker Lane. Please join Flagler Habitat for Humanity in the Sept. 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Thirty volunteers are needed, including military veterans, active military, those impacted by 9/11, or those who just want to give back in remembrance. All volunteers will receive complimentary lunch and a T-shirt. To sign up to volunteer, call 586-6180.
9/11 Candlelight Vigil — 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at AMVETS Post 113, 2525 N. State St., Bunnell. A ceremony to honor those fallen. There will be hamburgers, sausage and salads to follow. Call 263-2972.
