Sept. 10
Don’t Tase me, bro!
6:54 p.m. – 1400 Block of Granada Boulevard. Shoplifting. The defendant entered a department store and, according to the loss prevention officer, wasn’t wearing shoes and appeared to have several injuries to his face. The defendant was observed taking a pair of sunglasses off the display, ripping off the price tag and hanging them on the collar of his shirt.
The defendant then proceeded to the shoe section where he picked up a pair of Timberland boat shoes. The defendant put the shoes on his feet, broke open a cigarette and smeared tobacco on the shoes to make them look old and used.
The defendant then walked to the register and stopped for a moment, but exited the store without paying for the items. The defendant was walking out the door when he was met by the loss prevention officer and a responding Ormond Beach police officer.
The officer ordered the defendant to the ground. After the defendant didn’t comply and showed signs he was going to run, the officer pointed his Taser at him then deployed it, after several additional orders to comply. The Taser’s probes struck the defendant in the torso. The defendant was arrested for retail theft and resisting an officer without violence.

The manager also told police there were threats against homosexuals written in black marker on a shelf.
The manager expressed a desire to press charges if a suspect could be identified.
Sept. 16
Weapons of past destruction
7:32 p.m. — 500 Block of Hand Avenue. Burglary - Residence. Ormond Beach police officers were dispatched to the victim’s home in response to a possible burglary the prior night. The victim notified them that he was missing two firearms from his bedroom.
The night before police were called, there was a 30-minute period when the residence was unoccupied. When the roommate arrived at the house, he called the victim to tell him the side garage door was open. The roommate checked the residence and couldn’t identify any missing items. He told police there were valuable items, including several TVs and a Playstation, that had not been taken.
After the victim returned home, he checked to see if his firearms were missing. He reported to police his Ruger “Security Six” .357 revolver and another firearm, described as “an older-model ‘homemade.’” were missing.
The victim told police he couldn’t think of any possible suspects, but that his ex-girlfriend had a key. He also told police he had several people over for a cookout the day before, but didn’t think any of them would have taken the weapons.
