The Ormond Beach Police Department has a suspect in an aggravated assault incident that occurred late Tuesday night, resulting in a vehicle collision and one victim being punched in the face.

Samantha Addington was driving herself and Janelle Bader westbound on Hand Avenue Sept. 18 when her 2000 Nissan Altima was tailgated by a white Ford F150, which police believe was being driven by Jessie Dodge.

Once Addington turned northbound on Williamson Boulevard, police say Dodge drove beside her, brandished her middle finger and yelled profanities before passing Addington and slamming on her brakes in an attempt to make Addington crash into the back of her truck.

When the two vehicles reached a red light at Williamson Boulevard and West Granada Boulevard, Dodge exited her vehicle and walked towards Addington’s car. Dodge then reached into Addington’s car and punched her in the face before getting back into her truck and driving to the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Addington followed Dodge into the parking lot in an attempt to record the vehicle’s tag, according to the report.

Once both vehicles were in the parking lot, police say Dodge put her truck in reverse and sped at Addington, crashing into the front of her car.

Addington tried to follow Dodge as she drove out of the parking lot, but her car ceased at the entrance of the Boston Market, at 1425 Granada Blvd., due to damages.

When an Ormond Beach Police officer arrived to the scene, Bader was able to provide them with a partial vehicle tag, as well as a description of the vehicle and of Dodge.

The responding officer gave a vehicle and suspect description to dispatch over the radio. He was then contacted by a Volusia County Deputy who believed he had dealt with the suspect in the past.

The deputy provided the OBPD officer with Dodge’s name, full vehicle description and tag.

Dodge’s picture was identified in separate photo lineups by Addington and Bader.

The responding officer also contacted three witnesses from the Wal-Mart parking lot, who each said they had seen a white truck back into Addington’s car and then speed away.

Neither Addington not Bader reported serious injuries and as a result they didn’t receive any medical treatment.
