The members of the Flagler Beach Fire Department raised a total of $3,489 from the donations of community members during the department'ss annual Fill The Boot campaign, which benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This year, members were at the intersection of State Road 100 and A1A, in Flagler Beach.
Since 1954, firefighters around the country have stood on corners during the Labor Day weekend to collect money to help find a cure and combat muscular dystrophy.
To date, firefighters have collected more than $270 million to help combat muscular dystrophy and diseases of the nervous system and muscular system by funding research, providing medical and community services and educating health professionals and the public.
