Ocean Books & Art will feature the photographic art of Dr. Ed Siarkowicz for the month of October, in a themed show focused on motorcycles, in honor of Biketoberfest.

For the showcase, Siarkowicz, a retired chiropractor, has blended the uniqueness of each bike and some aspect of nature. Examples of this fusion include antique Indian and Harley cycles in various environments where nature is as much the imagery as are the motorcycles.

A part of the collection will be "The Graveyard," which includes photographs of old motorcycles entwined in vines and trees that were found in a Massachusetts motorcycle salvage yard.

“It’s uncharted waters for me,” Siarkowicz said of the show. “This is the first time I’ve focused on motorcycles, and I wanted to show something different about them.”

To achieve that uniqueness, Siarkowicz scoped out the rare, the expensive, and the abandoned.

“I want people to look at them and want to go find where the bike is,” he said of the photographs, which are mostly HDR, or high dynamic range, images.

HDR is a style of photo editing that allows a greater dynamic range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging methods.

Siarkowicz’s photos have been on the cover and interior of the 2012-2013 Flagler County Chamber of Commerce "Fantastic Flagler" magazine, numerous editions of the Palm Coast Observer, and Washington Oaks State Park’s “Coquina” brochure. His work also appears regularly on the city of Flagler Beach’s Internet homepage.

What drives Siarkowicz's photography is that perfect moment when everything lines up just right. When shooting, he said, he is often reminded of the Ansel Adams quote: “Sometimes I arrive just when God's ready to have somone click the shutter.”

The motorcycle show, which opens 5:30 p.m. Oct. 5, will run the whole month of October.
