City Commission notes ...
The Ormond Beach City Commission approved, on its second reading, two Sunoco Inc. gas stations to be built along Granada Boulevard. The gas station at U.S. 1 and Granada, 3 and 9 N. Yonge St., will be 3,159 square feet and include 12 fueling stations. The station at Granada and I-95, 1546 and 1566 W. Granada Blvd., will be the same size, but will have eight fuel dispensers, or 16 pumps.
The commission approved the annexation of Tire Kingdom, 250 Williamson Blvd., and a portion of Williamson Boulevard, totaling approximately two acres.
Surplus computers, eight obsolete Dell GX520 desktops, will be donated by the city to the nonprofit Ormond Beach Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol.
The city will renew one-year contracts with Empire Computing & Consulting Inc. and Magellan Advisors LLC, for as-needed information technology contracting.
State Attorney to host Domestic Violence Summit
State Attorney R.J. Larizza will sponsor the 2013 Circuit 7 Domestic Violence Summit 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Calvary Christian Center, 1687 W. Granada Blvd.
The free event is designed for law enforcement and others who work with domestic violence victims. Speakers include Larizza, Assistant State Attorney Michele Simonsen, Director of Programs for the Domestic Abuse Council Darlene Wolfson and Tania Schmidt-Alpers, this year’s recipient of the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Award, for her years of representation of domestic violence victims.
Artificial Reef Seminar
The Volusia County Marine Science Center, in a partnership with the Halifax Sportfishing Club and Volusia County Reef Research Dive Team, will host an Artificial Reef Seminar 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Lifeguard Headquarters and Administration Center, 515 S. Atlantic Ave., in Daytona Beach.
The seminar will discuss benefits, design and construction of artificial reefs, in addition to proper anchoring, fishing and diving techniques.

Babysitting training class
The Ormond Beach Fire Department, working with the American Safety & Health Institute, will host a Child And Babysitting Safety training program 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Fire Station #92, 189 S. Nova Road.
Designed for residents 11-16 years old, the course costs $10 per person.
