Oregon man arrested after suicide attempt damages to hotel
An Oregon man was arrested April 5, after attempting suicide at the Sleep Inn, 170 Williamson Blvd., by lighting coals in a charcoal grill in the hotel room's bathroom, according to reports.
The man previously attempted suicide April 1, in a Florida Hospital Oceanside parking lot, but he drove away after a security guard found him.
The Ormond Beach Fire Department responded to the Sleep Inn and cleared the hotel. Heat from the grill melted the bottom of the fiberglass shower, in addition to the light and ventilation fan.
The man was arrested for arson and transported to Volusia County Branch Jail, where he was put on suicide watch.
