We are the champions: Lady Renegades win tournament

The Lady Renegades 12U team won the USSSA Bronze Championship April 7, at the Spring Stampede Tournament in Jacksonville.

The Lady Renegades scored two runs to tie the game 5-5, sending it to extra innings, where Lexi Duckett drove in the game-winning run with a line drive over the third baseman’s head and runners at second and third.

"These kids are really starting to understand how to play the game,” coach Kent Zweifel said. "As a coach, it is making it all worth it. These are 10 of the best kids any coach would want to be around."

The Lady Renegades will host a tournament April 20, at the Ormond Beach softball quads. In July, the team plays in the USSSA World Series at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex.
