An Orlando man was charged with attempted second-degree murder after witnesses saw him stab another man on an ATV trail early Sunday morning at Mud Muckers.

A witness told Sheriff’s Office deputies she was on the trail with Todd Lee Richmond and Brad Lee Taylor around 2 a.m., when the two men began arguing. As the confrontation escalated, the men began pushing each other until Taylor suddenly stepped back, saying Richmond had stabbed him.

Several other people were on the trail with the men at the time. Three other witnesses provided deputies with written statements. All of the witness accounts were consistent.

After the alleged stabbing, Richmond fled into the woods on foot. Meanwhile, Taylor was airlifted by Air One as a trauma alert to Halifax Hospital. Taylor had a knife wound approximately 1-inch long on the left side of his upper abdomen, according to a charging affidavit.

Deputies searched the area, but were unable to find Richmond by 3 a.m. However, they found Richmond’s vehicle in the camping area of the property and asked Mud Muckers staff to inform them if Richmond returned to his vehicle.

Around 5 a.m., Richmond returned. A deputy was dispatched to the scene and placed Richmond under arrest. Richmond refused to answer questions, the affidavit says. No weapons were found on him.

Taylor’s condition was stable early Sunday morning. Richmond remains in the Flagler County Inmate Facility on $100,000 bond.
