The Indian Trails Middle School cafeteria was transformed into a competition stage Saturday, April 13, for the second installment of the Sing Relay, a singing competition used as a fundraiser for Relay for Life Flagler team Nevaeh.

Among the competitors was ovarian cancer survivor Carol Gorham, whose rendition of “He touched me” touched the audience.

“God touched me through all of this,” she said.

Sixteen-year-old Ashley Savage was named the winner of this round with her performance of “Independence Day.” Savage will compete against first-round winner Shay Morrelli on May 11, at the Relay for Life event.

Scoring for the finals will come with a twist, though. Not only will the total points from each judge be calculated, but finalists will also have the chance to collect votes in the form of $1 donations. The total donations/votes will be added to the points given by the judges to determine a winner.
