Matanzas, FPC get new districts
The Florida High School Athletic Association announced on Friday the final district assignments for boys basketball, girls basketball and volleyball for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 classification cycle.
Also released were the tentative new districts for cross country, golf, soccer, swimming and wrestling. A breakdown of the new districts is as follows:
Boys basketball
Matanzas will move into District 5-6A, a six-team district including Deltona, Mainland, New Smyrna Beach, Pine Ridge and Seabreeze.
Flagler Palm Coast will remain in District 1-8A, which now includes First Coast (Jacksonville), Mandarin, Sandalwood and West Port (Ocala).
Girls basketball
Matanzas will move into District 5-6A, a six-team district including Deltona, Mainland, New Smyrna Beach, Pine Ridge and Seabreeze.
Flagler Palm Coast will remain in District 1-8A, which now includes First Coast (Jacksonville), Mandarin, Sandalwood and West Port (Ocala).
Volleyball
Matanzas will move into District 5-6A, a six-team district including Deltona, Mainland, New Smyrna Beach, Pine Ridge and Seabreeze.

Boys soccer
Matanzas will move into District 6-3A, a six-team district including Deltona, Edgewater, Pine Ridge and Seabreeze.
Flagler Palm Coast will remain in District 2-5A, a four-team district featuring DeLand, Spruce Creek and University.
Girls soccer
Matanzas will move into District 6-3A, a six-team district including Deltona, Edgewater, Pine Ridge and Seabreeze.
Flagler Palm Coast will remain in District 2-5A, a four-team district featuring DeLand, Spruce Creek and University.
Wrestling
Matanzas will compete in District 4-2A, a six-team district including Bartram Trail, Creekside, Nease, Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine.
Flagler Palm Coast will compete in District 1-3A, a seven-team district including Buchholz (Gainesville), First Coast (Jacksonville), Fleming Island, Fletcher Mandarin and Sandalwood.
Flagler Possums announce ELITE program
Flagler Possums has announced its summer program, which will be directed by Matanzas graduate Jeff Ocampo.
High school teams will be coached and directed by college coaches, and the youth teams will be under the guidance of several high school coaches from the Northeast Florida region.
The summer program includes 15 practices (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and three tournaments.

Assassins shock Gladiators in OT
The Assassins knocked off the Gladiators, 5-4, in the latest Flagler Dek Hockey championship. The Gladiators went undefeated in the regular season, but they couldn’t win the final game to cap off a perfect season.
Ryan Frezza was named the player of the game, tallying three goals and one assist, including the game-winning goal.
The Gladiators outshot the Assassins, 40-20, but Assassins goalie Ryan Garside was able to turn most of them away.
