Two shoplifting cases in one day: Free hoses, free everything.

'Hose' car is that?

12:05 p.m. — 1300 Block of Granada Boulevard. Shoplifting. The suspect entered the hardware store, took a shopping cart and then walked down the store’s aisles placing three garden hoses and three rolls of wire in the cart, according to reports.

The suspect then left the store without paying.

An employee took a picture of the suspect's vehicle, and police say the suspect matched the description of a suspect in a similar theft at the store’s DeLand location.

Beer and shades: $30; Jail time: Priceless

1:40 p.m. — 1500 Block of Granada Boulevard. Shoplifting. The defendant entered the store, selected a pair of sunglasses and placed them in his pocket, the loss-prevention officer told police.

Then, the defendant grabbed a case of beer and walked out of the store without paying.

The officer stopped the defendant and called police, and the defendant was arrested and transported to Volusia County Branch Jail. The items totaled $30.86.
